Ruth Tuck

Born in Cowell, SA, in 1914, Ruth Tuck studied art with Marie Tuck (her aunt), Ivor Hele, and Dorrit Black. She married painter Mervyn Smith in 1943.

Ruth Tuck held about 32 solo exhibitions from 1947, mostly in Adelaide but also in Perth and Germany. She was also a noted teacher, stage designer and art critic. Her work was included in South Australian Women Artists exhibition in 1994.

On offer are two works. Man’s Head is a watercolour measuring 46 x 38 cms. It is on offer for $500.

Also for sale is a large, 54 x 73 cms, watercolour of Coffin Bay, one of Ruth Tuck's favourite places. It is on offer for $850.
